you can find list of compatibles programs on www.hs247.com,
they effectively understanding style [::] addresses,
the first is always IPv6 (AAAA reg type) when available.
(the choice is made from the client)

at this time other MS Programs support IPv6 only if they're directly 
linked with wininet.dll

i don't know for Linux i'm using FreeBSD.
