whois server unreachable

Dear admins,

We cannot reach the 6bone whois server from AS8954,AS12859,AS1103. Are
there any known problems with the network connectivity of the
whois.6bone.net server ?

Is there any means of duplicating this service? I would be interrested
in running a (realtime) copy of the 6bone database at my site for the 
Europe region and also in order to help enable a higher availability of 
the database, which I actually use quite frequently.
