PiMP da PMP

Just like Xzibit likes to Pimp your ride on MTV, I'd like to PiMP my PMP-140, I really need a purple design in there ;)
The PMP (Portable Media Players) sold by iRiver are probably one of the neat toys that arrived on the world since an iPod.The fact that these babies run Linux is of course very interresting as then we can extend them ourselves and the name of PMP becomes PiMP very quickly then ;)

PMP Firmware

PMP firmware has been found on the net, apparently iRiver donated someone a CD with about 100mb of tar'd up files on it. Available amongst others per FTP @ ftp://ftp.gpl-devices.org/pub/vendors/iRiver/PMP-1xx/

Pimping the PMP's skin

Shamrockman made ShamRockImage, which allows one to change the skin on a PMP.
See Skinning the PMP-1xx for the details and downloads.

Keywords etc..

PMP's are apparently based on Cadenux, the 2.01 software is then also Linux 2.4.19 with busybox etc included.
iRiverSys - the directory where part images and the last-used directories are storedAnother interresting site is Ingenient who make the base model that iRiver apparrently used.
