Thursday, January 1st - Happy New Year
A happy new year to all.
Saturday, January 10th - ecmh (Easy Cast du Multi Hub) released
Though the name of the project mentions hub, ecmh is actually a full implementation of a IPv6 MLD capable Multicast Router for Linux.
It allows one to forward IPv6 multicast based on the subscriptions provided by the MLD protocol.
This daemon is being used by SixXS to enable some of their POPs to do IPv6 allowing the users of those tunnels to send and receive Multicast IPv6 traffic and allowing the users to start their own Internet Radio station using multicast thus only 1x 128kbit/s stream goes up... and possibly thousands of users can listen to it ;)
We will soon also release our revamped mp3 casting program with of course support for our very own jukebox protocol. Currently we are casting MP3's on rtp://[ff08::4]:1500, thus if you are on one of the Multicast enabled SixXS POPs tune in using FreeAmp IPv6 or other IPv6 Multicast RTP capable mp3 clients.

Friday, February 13th - Radio.Unfix - Alternative IPv6 Multicast Radio
Radio.Unfix is a fact.
Using IPv6 Multicast everybody with at least 128kbit/s upstream can start their own Internet Radio Station with an unlimited amount of possible endusers who are listening to your radio!
For this I have created Radio.Unfix, a simple RTP Multicast IPv6 streamer that gets it's next song from a MySQL database, either from a votequeue or random when that votequeue is empty. Adding a small PHP frontend and a gathering mechanism for indexing the mp3's into the database et voila one full blown Internet Radio system with voting capability.
Tune in on rtp://radio.unfix.org:1833!

Wednesday, February 18th - ecmh 2004.02.18 released
A new edition of ecmh has been released. This amongst others does full MLDv1-only mode, contains a number of list management fixed, decreases hoplimit correctly and allows icmp echo requests to be routed making traceroutes to multicast listeners work. Radio.Unfix also has correct hoplimit set now.

Wednesday, March 31st - Moving to Zürich
I am moving to Zürich today...
Tuesday, April 13th - New Gallery pictures
I've updated the gallery to include the pictures of last weekend
Friday, June 4th - Gallery split into sections
To make sure that the gallery stays a bit tidy I split it into a couple of sections in the similar method I used for
hskt.nl.
Switzerland is now under Switzerland etc...
I've also uploaded pictures from the Swiss IPv6 Summit in Zürich which happened yesterday.
Tuesday, August 3rd - PuTTY version 0.55 is released - Security Update!
From the Official PuTTY announcement list:
All the pre-built binaries, and the source code, are now available from the PuTTY website at:
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/.
This is a bug fix release to 0.54, and also a SECURITY UPDATE.
We recommend that _everybody_ upgrade, as soon as possible.
This version fixes a security hole in previous versions of PuTTY,
which can allow an SSH2 server to attack your client before host key verification.
This means that you are not even safe if you trust the server you _think_ you're
connecting to, since it could be spoofed over the network and the host key check
would not detect this before the attack could take place.
We are not completely certain of the impact of the attack, but it could be as
bad as allowing the server to execute code of its choice on the client.
This vulnerability was found by Core Security Technologies, who we understand
will shortly release an advisory numbered CORE-2004-0705 on the subject.
I repeat: PuTTY 0.55 fixes a SERIOUS SECURITY HOLE in all previous versions of PuTTY.
You should upgrade now.
Because of this expect an updated IPv6 PuTTY asap. when the trees have been synced again.
Tuesday, August 24th - Initial release of Radio.Unfix
I've finally grabbed together the bits and pieces that make up Radio.Unfix and made a release for it.
Full source code and documentation can now be downloaded from both SourceForge and the download archive of the website.

Wednesday, August 25th - PuTTY IPv6 CVS-2004-08-25
PuTTY IPv6 has been updated to the current 2004-08-25 CVS.
This thus brings it up to par to the
0.55 version which fixes a vulnerability
Additionally pscp now also supports eg. jeroen@[2001:db8::2]:blaat.txt as a format.
Binaries, patch and zip are of course available from the page.
Monday, October 4th - New project: The Talamasca
I've added a new project to the project pages called The Talamasca.
It allows one to connect a IRC channel on one server, by connecting as a user, to a IRC server by connecting as a server and then introducing the users on the channel to the server.
This setup in combination with the amazingly great BitlBee gateway allows one to setup a MSN/AOL/Yahoo/Jabber/whatever account and let people talk to that user, which will actually relay everything to a real irc server.
But until that moment first a lot of testing and feature adding.
See the Talamasca pages for information about where to find the testbed.
When testing has ended it will be released for download of course as I assume some other people are interrested in doing this too...

Thursday, October 7th - ecmh, now with MLDv2, FreeBSD5 and TunnelMode support
I have finally packaged the new version of ecmh which now supports MLDv2, FreeBSD 5 and a special Tunnelmode, which can handle proto-41 tunnels so that the FreeBSD 5 implementation doesn't need to open a BPF device on all the interfaces it has in the system.

Saturday, October 9th - ecmh, small fixes
A couple of small problems have been fixed in this new version of ecmh:
- Ignoring of anycast 6to4 relay address when detecting tunnels
- Interface IPv4 aliases
- update_interfaces() now only every 5 minutes
- Makefile fixes and some other changes
|
|
Sunday, October 10th - ecmh, FreeBSD 4 support
To make ecmh also work on FreeBSD 4 the makefile has been ammended and a couple of minor changes have been made to fix some other minor issues.
Next up... MLDv2 Reporting

Thursday, October 14th - purgatory.unfix.org temporarily offline
Until the beginning of December 2004, purgatory.unfix.org will be offline due to a change of DSL provider to a real ISP
Thus the services provided by the machine, Unfix.Radio amongst others will also be unavailable until the connectivity has returned.
Sunday, October 17th - The Talamasca - update
Talamasca testing with a local jabber server have continued and most features have been implemented now.
This should allow for an initial release somewhere this week.

Wednesday, October 27th - PuTTY 0.56 released (Security Update), expect IPv6 update tomorrow
PuTTY 0.56 has been released:
This is a SECURITY UPDATE. We recommend that _everybody_ upgrade, as soon as possible.
This version fixes a security hole in previous versions of PuTTY,
which can allow an SSH2 server to attack your client before host key
verification. This means that you are not even safe if you trust the
server you _think_ you're connecting to, since it could be spoofed
over the network and the host key check would not detect this before
the attack could take place. The attack can allow the server to
execute code of its choice on the client.
Expect an updated IPv6 version to appear
here tomorrow (28-10-2004)
Thursday, October 28th - PuTTY IPv6 0.56 released (Security Update)
As noted yesterday, due to a security vulnerability in PuTTY <0.56 a new version of
PuTTY IPv6 has now also been made available. Of course the patch is included like usual.
I've additionally PGP signed the MD5SUMS included in the archive so one is able to verify that these are really the files I released.
